Aikido of Summit is a not for profit Aikido Club, and a member of the United States Aikido Federation under the direction of Yoshimitsu Yamada Shihan, President of the USAF, and committed to teaching the traditional martial art of Aikido as taught by Morihei Ueshiba (O'Sensei), founder of Aikido. Our mission is to promote an understanding of martial arts as a method of conflict resolution and provide a resource for community growth. All classes are an hour and 15 minutes in length.

Class Descriptions

Lining Up for ClassBasic This class focuses on basic body movement, falling properly (ukemi), and partner practice of basic techniques (kihon waza).

 


Mixed Class (photo by www.2lpix.com)General This class is more dynamic than the basic class. Techniques are demonstrated at a "faster" pace than the basic class, emphasizing blending with the attack, instead of the execution of techniques from a static attack. This class is open to all levels.





Weapons

Weapons
In this class, students learn solo and partner forms using the bokken (wooden sword), jo (wooden staff), and tanto (wooden knife). This class is open to all students and is beginner friendly.

Ukemi
"The art of falling". Classes are held periodically to review how to fall properly and safely, as well as connection to your partner. Please view the student section for dates/times.
